After a steady decrease in unemployment since July 2017, the number of Danes without jobs increased in March by 0.1%.
There is, however, still general job growth in the private sector overall.
“It is surprising that unemployment has increased, because large numbers of people have found work in recent months. We are still seeing impressive job growth in the private sector, so I assume that the increase in unemployment in March is a one-off,” says Deputy Director Steen Nielsen, the Confederation of Danish Industry.
“Even with the increase, unemployment in March is still very low. The biggest challenge right now is that it is difficult for businesses to find the employees they need,” says Steen Nielsen.
Statistics Denmark has adjusted the unemployment rate for February down from 4.1% to 4.0%.
Even with the increase, unemployment in March is still very low.
