Four year setback for corporate business
Although business for Danish companies has begun to stabilise, there is still a long way back to the level of the first half of 2008. For the first time, DI has shown an overall picture of the development in the various sectors since the crisis started at the end of 2008.
There are major differences as to the hardship that individual sectors have suffered as a result of the recession. Some sectors are basically untouched while other sectors have lost nearly 40 percent of their business, according to a DI sector analysis.
“Generally speaking, it is fair to say that the overall revenue of companies is back to the level of 4-5 years ago,” says DI Economic Consultant Allan Sørensen.
Among the sectors affected badly by the recession are the plastic, glass and concrete industries as well as the metal and vehicle industries. For some of these sectors, the decline in revenue was typically at 30 percent in the period September 2008 thru November 2009 alone.
