Historical Optimism amongst EU Consumers

European consumers are in a good mood. This suggest growth in household consumption in the EU and we expect a pick up of growth. The optimistic consumers are spread across the larger countries in the EU which shows that the consumption growth is driven by a number of member states.
If the historic optimistic views is kept for the rest of the year we find that it should lead to around 2.5 percent growth in household consumption in 2017. This would be the highest yearly growth rate since 2000 and it is higher than the 2 percent forecasted by the European Commission.
