The Danish model is finding its way to Northern Africa. With financial support from the Danish Foreign Ministry, DI International Business Development (DIBD) is helping to build up sister organisations in countries where the private sector has previously been without political influence.

New Libya is ready for Danish businesses
There is a great need of foreign investment in Libya. The North African country appears far more stable and peaceful than is the general impression from the media, according to a DI-organised delegation that visited Libya.

New Treaty changes the European Stability Mechanism

On 30 January the political leaders of Europe agreed to change the EU’s permanent stability mechanism (ESM) thereby allowing it to come into force already in July 2012. In addition, countries will have to ratify the Fiscal Compact Treaty to achieve loaning access.

European Council agrees on Fiscal Pact
Last night the European leaders made significant steps towards restoring financial and economic stability in the euro area. With the exception of the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic, the majority of the European Union agreed on the Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance. This Treaty introduces initiatives that will further strengthen the budgetary discipline.
